Innovative patent granted

Atlantis-Pak has been granted a patent for the invention of a Barrier film with an improved formability and a low heat shrinkage at the forming temperature, and method for its production.

The inventors are Sergey Verin, Vladimir Kostrub, Vadim Biryukov, Igor Burykin and Boris Golyansky from the Directorate for Development. The patent protect the Company's films that can be used as the bottom film on packaging lines. They differ from the existing films by their unique properties achieved thanks to the invented innovative technology: they can be thermoformed by deep drawing under rigorous conditions – practically without ruptures – and  are not susceptible to excessive thinning in certain areas of the formed articles (soft trays, containers); besides, they have a rather low heat shrinkage (less than 3%) at the forming temperature, which makes it possible to preserve the shape preset during the manufacture. At moderate thicknesses, such films ensure the required strength and reliability of the finished packages.

This is a truly innovative patent to put an end to biaxially oriented thermoformable films, to quote Sergey Verin, Director for Development of Atlantis-Pak.
